PCiXnet main features

Binary compatibility
The PCiXnet card is a package made of one X25 card and a driver that permits the use - without any modification - of former software developments made for the PCXnet card, in PCI bus and Windows environments. An application software written for the PCXnet card with our Windows NT4 driver (OST API) will run without modifications with the PCiXnet card, under Windows NT4 or 2000.

Extended mode
Better, simple modifications in the application software code will allow the use of extended functions already included in the PCiXnet compatible driver: Line throughput up to 2 Mb/s (PCXnet = 64 Kb/s), 1024 VCs available on the PCiXnet (PCXnet = 256).

PCiXnet physical interfaces
The PCiXnet card is a half-size card, composed of one mother card (PCI connector, processor, memory) and one daughter card (physical interfaces). The two cards together are only one slot wide. The daughter card may be fitted with two V24 interfaces (DB25 and DB15 HD) or with two V11 interfaces (2 * DB15). Up to 4 PCiXnet cards may be installed in the same PC.

Packages
The PCiXnet card may be shipped in two versions: 2 * V24 interfaces or 2 * V11 interfaces. The delivery package includes one mother card and one daughter card (V24 or V11, already mounted), one CD and one diskette for installation, configuration and maintenance. A daughter card may be ordered separately, to change the physical interfaces of an existing installation (V24 -> V11 or V11 -> V24).
